COFI’s Shawn Lawlor and Scott Anderson visit with Greenhouser Company in Sendai

COFI Japan is currently conducting extensive market research into wood usage trends impacting the residential, multi-family and non-residential markets in Japan. The aim is to take an in depth post “wood shock” and post-pandemic look into how the wood construction market is evolving in Japan and develop a practival understanding of future prospects and challenges. As part of this exercise, we recently met with Greenhouser Company President Ito san and General Manager Takenaka san (photo above) to learn about wood use trends in the Sendai and Tohoku region. We are currently conducting over 30 interviews with panel and pre-cut plants, home and apartment builders, architects, general contractors and wood distributors. Our plan is to have a comprehensive report on Japan wood usage trends available to our stakeholders by the fall in view of informing future market development strategy.
