Canada Wood is delighted to report the first commercial application of the Hem Fir (N) & OSB based infill Midply wall for post and beam applications. As part of his technical promotions and outreach activities, Canada Wood’s Yusuke Neriko presented the structural benefits of Midply to Tezuka Architects and structural engineering firm Ohno Japan. Subsequent discussions resulted in Midply being adopted in the Makado Kagamimochi Nursery School in Tochigi Prefecture. The building is a 750 square meter one storey post and beam structure that uses Midply to achieve the required large openings. Canada Wood also facilitated access to materials which included 45×45, 45×90 and 105×105 Hem Fir (N) along with 15mm OSB. The architect utilized Canada Wood’s Centre for Better Living test reports to secure building permit approval. The structure is expected to complete at the end of March 2020.\
